Nacho Libre = Morta Della
By: Mikey P | March 8th, 2010If you hear someone eating rather uncomfortably (and loudly) on the West Coast, its just your favorite Bari blogger munching a healthy dose of crow. Last week, after our “game” ( I put game in quotes because a soccer game should actually involve 2 teams) I took it upon myself to blast a few of the Biancorossi. None more than our very own Argie Amauri, Jose Ignacio “NACHOOOOOO” Castillo. Quite simply, the guy has been a ghost, and thats when he actually sees the pitch. Well, wouldnt ya know it, but the friggen guys showed up and snipped one yesterday. Proving that yes, he can score FOR us and not just against us.

Shoot. Score. Repeat....Shoot. Score. Repeat....
I will be honest, I couldnt bring myself to get up at 6am for another disappointment, so I didnt watch the game. Of course, that didnt stop me from being half awake, and looking at my iPhone and ESPN mobile to keep tabs at half time (F’N rights we are up 1-nil), and for the closing minutes (Pheeeewww!!!). I guess the belief can dwindle, but the passion never dies. What I can gleen from watching the highlights and reading summaries, we were, despite ANOTHER F—ING PENALTY MISS, full value for the win. Of course Chievo had their chances. A rocket from the wrong guy you want to let loose, Sergio Pellisier, who’s shoot was smacked away by il Capitano Gillet. But really we seemed to have the better of the play and more of the quality chances; Alvarez looping a shot off the bar and a couple of quality free kick chances that went wanting. In extra time, Sebastian Frey’s petit frere, Nicolas, tripped Mieggiorini in the box, and we were awarded yet another penalty. Excellent! Time to ice this baby. Time to put the demons to bed. Time to do what you should as a professional calciatore, and put one home. I am assuming as soon as we were awarded the penalty, Barreto ran off and hid for fear of yet another ghastly miss, so Massimo Donati stepped up and delivered what can only be described as a dud. Sorrentino did his job and turned the low shot around the post. Yes, we still held on for the win, but another missed penalty still annoys me. Its a microcosm of Bari’s season really; the door opening, and the penalty taking lets the team down. I hope Mr Ventura will spend an extra 10 minutes in training for penalty practice.
Now Chievo, and our perfect record against them, are in the rearview. Next up, its the grounded Eagles of Lazio, another team we can take maximum points off of. Relegation fodder or not, a trip to the Olimpico is NEVER easy, and this Lazio squad is going to be pissed after their display last week in Genoa. Its going to be a grind, but I have faith that this is a game we can get a positive result from.
Here are the highlights, from the cheap seats. You gotta love it!!
FORZA GALLETTI!!!

Great stuff! We’re worse at penalties than I am…
Bout time for Castillo to wake the hell up. That was an important 3 points though, and a nicely scored goal.

You must be pretty shitty at penalties Ale, LOL.
Next post Im gonna put up a video of Ventura speaking a little Barese, it’s priceless

It was a very well taken goal by Nacho, but I forgot to give some love to Allegretti for that pass, it was sublime. A beautiful thing indeed.
