GRANDE MERCATO! Iago and Donati!
By: Eros Miranda | August 28th, 2009Yes it’s true, it’s all true. We tied the Italian champs last week in a hard fought game that counts as 3 points in theory for us. The great news hasn’t stop yet and I’m starting to like our new president. Since coming, Bari have singed Iago on loan from Juventus and Donati on a 4 year contract.
All I can do is just think about what a top class midfield we will have next season. Think about it, Donati and Almiron in the middle with Iago Falque in front of them, Alvarez on the wing and then Barretto on top. or Iago and Alvarez on the wings and Donati and Almiron in the middle.
Both deals are HUGE for bari and I believe we now have a top half of the table midfield. Donati has joined the galletti for around 1.5 million pounds, which is not much compared to what he can offer Bari, having played for teams like Atlanta and Milan. In english it basically says: Celtic has accepted the offer made by Bari for the full rights and passage of Massimo Donati to the bari association. The the contract details will be concluded tomorrow. The player has signed a contract that will tie him down to Bari for the next 4 season. He will join the group monday.
Meanwhile, Iago Falque will wear the number 6 jersey for Bari ( I don’t think the number suits him but what matters are his performances and not his number) and promises to bring a lot of speed, vision, and one touch football.
Iago was younger in the video and still playing for the Barcelona youth squad but imagine how much he has developed since then.
His first press conference for Bari.
Now the great Donati!
I can already see all the Baresi in San Nicola chanting “Mo Mo Massimo Mo Mo Massimo Mo Mo Massimo, Massimo Donati!”

Great signings, too bad they all came so late!! I still think the defense needs an addition or two, but the midfield should be set with Almiron, Donati, and Iago in addition to what the team has.

This is all great news!! We also picked up Diamoutene from Lecce.

I wonder why Donati never made it at Milan. I mean, surely he’s as good as, if not better than, Ambrosini.

Bari is making some nice moves

Johann,
We Baresi are hoping that Donati is better than Ambro. That would be a huge coup for us.

Man, Parkhead was rocking after he popped that winner against Shakhtar last year. Lets hope he can bring that magic to San Nicola!!!!

Any word on if the new owner is planning to bring any Americans to raise the teams profile in the US?

Jon, that’s the idea, though my choice in American players would be quite limited to maybe Landon Donovan or Charlie Davies.

BREAKING NEWS
Bari signed Diamoutene. it’s a loan but if we stay in Serie A then we can keep him permanently.
So far the game against bologna is 0-0 and I will have a post match up at the end.
This is how Bari is playing:
Gillet 1
Masiello 5
Ranocchia 13
Bonucci 19
Parisi 21
Alvarez 90
De Vezze 9
Gazzi 14
Allegretti 30
Meggiorini 69
KutuzovSo still no new faces but they should all be ready by next week.

And yes Jon, Barton stated that he wants to bring in American players to the club. Charlie Davies would be a great signing but he just move but he just signed for Sochaux in France, so that looks unlikely.

I don’t know what style Bari plays, with the midfielders they have signed they could certainly play some possession soccer, but if they play on the counter, Landon Donovan would definitely be an effective weapon. He’s probably the only American field player who is tactically sophisticated enough to play in Italy (we’ll see about Onyewu). The safest bet would be to get an American keeper, we have plenty of those, although of course Italy is also a factory of great keepers. Michael Bradley would be interesting to add some steel and energy to the midfield, but he may simply not have the tactical discipline needed for the Italian game. If they wanted to stir up publicity in the states, they could roll the dice on Freddy Adu. I’m sure he’d have to take a wage cut, and his ability to contribute in a top league is a question mark, but for sure every US soccer fan would become very familiar with Bari if they signed Freddy.

What did Sforzini do to get shown a straight red?

Jo, he was yapping the ref after they didst give the Bologna player a foul. .
The game was a bit of a disappointment, hopefully the reinforcements can add something more next week at Palermo. what a baptism by fire that promises to be.
Intercheats….a keeper is the last thing Bari need, we are quite satisfied with our capitano Gillet between the sticks. Donovan though, would be more than welcome.
