The Adventures of Peter Pan, in Pictures

In today’s press conference, Prandelli confirmed that Antonio Cassano will be a “point of reference” for the Nazionale, and bestowed on him the holy #10 Italy shirt. It has taken a while, but it appears that Fantonio will finally get the time in Azzurro he has deserved for so long.

Little did Baggio know this kid would inherit the Azzurri #10…

Playing for his hometown squad

Before Bari was relegated

So he signed with Scudetto winners Roma

cassanoroma3
And became pretty good friends with a guy named Totti

They played excellent together

But then Capello and Cassano got into some “disagreements”, and he moved out of the country

cassanoreal2
To sign with a little club named Real Madrid

And trained hard

And scored some nice goals here and there

But then Capello and Cassano got into some “disagreements”, and he moved out of the country

So he signed with Samp, to much enthusiasm

And did pretty well there

And the fans loved him

And he delivered them to a Champion’s League spot

Years ago with the Nazionale, he provoked Gattuso

And successfully blamed ex-teammate De Rossi for it

But sadly, a return to the Nazionale did not last long

Even if he sang with everyone in the group

But now, at last, Cassano is firmly part of the Italy coaches plan

And maybe, both in his personal and professional life, for a young poor kid from Bari Vecchia, it’s happily ever after.

    Awesome!!!

No to be overly “provincial”, but I think you almost have to be Barese to really appreciate the type of guy Anton’ is. He really could be one of my cousins or uncles. We should all be so lucky if he ever decides to come home and finish his career

    JERSEY UPDATE!!!

I spoke to Kevin at Subside Sports, and he said they will have the Home (white) jersey in early September, but will only have it in sizes M and XL. Keep in mind, they fit a bit smaller, so an XL will be closer to a L

    Bari Mike

Thanks for the jersey update. Your right about the sizes. I got last years in an XL and it fits a bit tight. Hopefully other sites will offer them in different sizes, or I’ll have to start drinking LIGHT beer during the games!!

Cassano played great today. Really livened up Italy’s attack, looking forward to seeing more of this in the future.

I agree Aaron. Cassano was def. a bright spot.

I will have never and will never get off the Cassano bandwagon. No matter what he does, I will always be a fan of the Boy from Bari

    Hey Guys,

I found a great option to get the new Bari jerseys. For those of you that have been to Rome, if you are jersey geeks like me, you stumbled across Calcio Italia on via Nazionale. Easily the greatest soccer store in the world. Quite simply, their selection is amazing. Anyways, they have an online store that ships around the world, the jerseys are authentic, and about 15 EURO cheaper.

I went a little nuts today and bought the home and away Bari jerseys and the white Roma for 200 EURO including shipping, which is a pretty good deal

    Here’s the link….enjoy!

I spent over € 100 so it cost me € 33 to ship it to Vancouver. If you spend under € 100 I think it’s 20-25 €. A little expensive, but take fr a guy that works for a courier company, it’s expensive to ship to and from Europe.

    BTW,

Im sure y’all have figured it out, but for the remedial out there, I changed my handle. Bari Mike was sounding a little too cheesy (some may say the same goes for Mikey P) so I going with a nickname that people actually call me.

    FORZA BARI!!!!

PS….New post coming on Friday before I head out on vacation next week

According to some sources, Bari is negotiating with Palmeiras for the defender “Danilo” (26year old centre-back).

2 final pre-season games ending in a 0-0 draw. Hopefully this is not a sign of the future as the teams they played were of lesser caliber than Bari! I did not look into the line ups. Does anyone know if they played their back up players for these final 2 games? Bari vs Juventus…what a way to start the season…FORZA BARI!!!!!
