Blast Off! Lecce (insert demeaning adjective here) AWAY
By: Mikey P | January 5th, 2011After a self imposed, unpaid sabbatical, the Bari blog is back! I know, I know, I said I wouldnt put something up until Bari actually won a game, but after some reflection, I realised that course of action was foolish and irresponisble on my part. Besides, this is the first Derby di Puglia in Serie A in 10 years, so if I didnt have a preview for this one, I would have to turn in my Barese card. Rest of the story after the jump.
On the surface, this game is a matchup of the 19th and 20th placed teams in the Italian top flight, a relegation crunch match in very sense. To look a little deeper though, shows that this game is a about a whole lot more. Lets face it a derby match in Italy has very few comparables. Real-Barca, Porto-Benfica, these are huge games no question, but a game like this; between two clubs from the same region of Italy, from these two cities, quite frankly, the word rivalry may be an understatement. Bari is the big city, the capital, while Lecce plays the part of second city, the so called Florence of the Salento. In Bari, we eat brasciole, orrichiette and macaroni al forno. In Lecce, they eat cat. But I digress. Any way you slice, tomorrow’s game at Stadio Via Del Mare (hopefully they can actually half fill the joint) is HUGE!
THE ENEMY- US Lecce-merda

che faccia bruta. Lecce MERDA!!!
I’m not going to say to much about the boys in yellow-red and dark blue, because frankly I dont know too much, or care too much about them. They are quality Serie B side, from what I can tell. A lot of journeymen (Rosati), sprinkled with a few quality Serie A type players (Di Michele, Chevanton, Oliviera) and some youngsters (Corvia, sort of) and they were always going to struggle to stay up. Their play has been pretty indifferent throughout, with a solitary victory in their last 5. The less I say about them, the better.
Probabale Starting XI
Rosati; Donati, Gustavo, Fabiano, Brivio; Giacomazzi, Vives, Munari; Olivera; Chevanton, Ofere
THE GOOD GUYS IN RED AND WHITE- AS Bari

Time to step up my Honduran friend
I took a bit of a run at Lecce only managing 1 win in their last five, but truth be told, I would take that win for us in a heartbeat. Alas, we can say we went into the break on a bit of a high note, scrapping to earn a point, a man down at that, against a very good Palermo side. The positives really and truly stop there though. Lets not mince words, this season has been a disaster on so many levels. Whether it be injuries to key players (Barreto, Ghezzal) underachieving players (A-L-V-A-R-E-Z!!!) key defections in key positions (gulp, Ranocchia and Bonucci) or the fact that teams have seemed to figure out the Mister’s tactics, it has all gone wrong for i Galletti. Amid all that gloom and doom though, and the fact that we have not won a game since September (CAZZO!) we can still escape the relegation zone with a sweep this week with 6 points. Tomorrow is the start of the biggest week of the season for us, 2 VERY winable games (Bologna in casa on Sunday) Lord willing tomorrow is where we blast off!

Lets hope we see plenty of celly's from this kid!
Of note, the strengthening of the squad has begun, as we have landed CB Glik from Palermo, and the young Italian striker Okaka from Roma, on loan. While these two are not saviours, I believe they are valuable pieces, in positions that we are incredible thin at. Benvenuto Kamil e Stefano. In bocca al lupo!!! (literally tomorrow)

The new Polish Wall? Lets hope so!
Probable Starting XI
Gillet; A. Masiello, Belmonte, Rinaldi, Raggi; Alvarez, Donati, Gazzi, Rivas; Rana, Kutuzov
This starting XI scares me. First of all, Gazzi is on the pitch, and that friggen Ginger just pisses me off as a footballer. Second, I really dont know shit about Rinaldi and Rana. Quite possibly, we will see Glik inserted at CB and Caputo partnering Kutuzov up front.
I leave you with this interesting stat, courtesy of the good folks at Football Italia
Stat fact: In the past four seasons, the side bottom of the League at Christmas has managed to survive relegation at the end of the season twice – Cagliari despite being five points adrift in 2007-08 and Chievo in 2008-09 after trailing 17th place by six points.
LETS MAKE IT 3 IN THE PAST 5!!! It starts tomorrow!!!
So there you have it, just a quick one this week, and hopefully we make quick work of those dirty Salenti tomorrow.

Time to play for the shirt boys!!!
FORZA BARI!!!!

defense didnt play well at all….okaka had 3 chances and was unlucky…luck isnt just on our side at all….we got a tough 3 weeks ahead of us juve, milan in coppa italia, napoli and cagliari…i hope luck is on bari’s side for the next couple weeks juve have been slacking maybe bari can pick up a point…does anyone when barreto going to be able to start and almiron?

-

http://www.goal.com/en/match/48853/bari-vs-bologna/lineup-stats
So Glik is both the fans top of the match and the editors flop?

-

@NYBarifan: Ghezzal, Barreto and Almiron are out until the end of january and could play in february … :/
It is rumoured that Ventura could be sacked this week and will be replaced by former Bologna-Coach Franco Colomba.
Don’t be sure if Ventura’s sacking will be right … or wrong.

-

wow thats like forever….@marcel i feel the same way if ventura does get sacked, could be good could be bad but why the old bologna coach?

-

Hmm … the rumours about Ventura / Colomba weren’t true, Ventura seems to stay.
About more transfers: according to the latest rumours, we could sign Rudolf and Kharja from Genua. Surely not the worst names.

-

Rudolf is officially a bari player on loan from genoa!

-

Yup,
Rudolf is official. If he’s half the player that Puskas was, i would be a happy man! (no pressure big guy)
I would take Kharja in a heartbeat as well!

-

LETS Go!!!! HYPED for tomorrows game…..we got this!!!!! ventura says bari needs 25 points and it starts tomorrow with robbing juve 3 points at their house.. okaka and rudolf on top lets go!!!! glik holding it down in the back..ODIO JUVENTINO!!! SOLO BARI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-

I like Rudolf, hes a real creative player. Not sure he’s the goalscorer Bari needs, though…
You all know my loyalties will be, erm, a bit conflicted tomorrow. Maybe Juve should thrash Bari….finally convincing the Matarreses that they need to OPEN THEIR FUCKING WALLETS if Bari want to stay in Serie A.

-

I don’t know what to think about the formation …
the unexperienced Jaime from the beginning,
Khutuzov instead of Okaka. Well …

-

What’s with the useless short corners? Ridiculous. We have no creativity or invention on our team. Hopefully Rudolf can pick up that slack and we will soon see a fit Barreto partnering Okaka up front.
Aaron, we’ll let you slide this week bud,
. Materress’s open up their wallets? Lmao. Best joke I’ve heard in a while. We need new owners, simple as that

-

Well .. Jaime plays not bad. But its not a good game … eventually we could hold the draw and get one essential point.

-

Ahahaha … this happens, when you present Del Piero one by one free kick -.-”

-

WOW!!! Terrible fouls. Bari has to stop giving Juve these scoring opportunities. Why will Bari not take a normal corner kick??? Its driving me insane. Unfortunately, Bari does not look like they have any sort of game plan.Missed passes, no shots on net…etc etc…I hope they come out playing better in the second half FORZA BARI!!!!

-

GOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLL!!!Alvarez finally passed the ball!!!

-

Ruuuuuuuuudolf!!!!!
You beautiful mother fucker!!!!
Very nice goal. First good thing Alvarez has done all year!

-

And the moral of the story is…. When you take Kutuzov off, good things happen!

-

What a heart breaker. What was Donati thinking with that terrible pass.Same old thing with this team, missed opportunities come back and bite them in the ass.
Is it the coach???I like Ventura but i’m starting to question his ability to get his players to do what he wants or is he asking them to do what they can’t? I even wore my jersey today!!!!ha. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

-

idk i feel the reffing at the end was iffy maybe they are little predigest to okaka bc hes a black italian….i didnt understand why ventura took off rudolf he was part of the liveliness of the offense….if they played the way they played in the second half maybe we can win more games…it was an exciting second half jus a disappointing ending…its going to be a tough week milan in coppa italia then napoli…maybe bari can pick themselves up and believe they can do it……my faith is still alive for the team we arent done yet!!!! forza bari!!!!!

-

Well … Coppy Italia against AC Milan.
Bad: Khutuzov and Castillo in the starting eleven.
Good: Parisi is back

-

what are you going to do no one on top to score….looks like no sliver ware this year lol….i still got hope in the team they can get a big win over napoli!! SOLO BARI

-

-

Marcel, that article pretty much sums up the position of this team.
Winning brings in money.
To win you need good players.
Bari lacks funds to buy good players.
Bari is in some trouble but they will get out of it one win at a time. Lets hope they start with Napoli.
FORZA BARI!!!!!!!

-

LETS GO!!!!!!!! derby del sud we got this!!!!!!! SOLO BARI!!!!!!!!
